Let’s Hear Some Positive Stories!! Listen to the stories of Fireflies in the midst of Dark night, the most efficient lights in the world (100% of the energy is emitted as light), an incandescent bulb emits 10% of its energy as light and the rest as heat, a fluorescent bulb, emits 90% of its energy as light!

Dear Friends and Students

Last 2 weeks, I am hearing sad and negative NEWS. Few filled with grief (Few of my relatives, friends, and near & dear leaving their material responsibilities and take up higher responsibilities at other geographical coordinates).

In the midst of this negative NEWS, I was scanning hard for positive NEWS across the world newspapers aggregators (e.g. newspaperindex.com covers 196 countries). Unfortunately, I am unable to find a topic that is inspiring and can feed as a great source of respite.

But still, I found few pieces of information that give us contentment at this hour of crisis.

# 1: While we are worried about the daily caseload, let’s see the positive side. More than 2.97Lakhs #COVID19 patients recovered in the last 24 hours (30 April 2021).

#2: This week I received an inspiring video from Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman AICTE. The summary of the Video message is as follows: “Judge Raymond Zondo was appointed Dy Chief Justice of South Africa last June. This clip is from his selection interview for this post. He talks of an Indian shopkeeper, who provided him a loan while he was studying. See how he was asked to repay the loan. The answer would make you speechless and the Judge himself had tears in his eyes. The answer is: Do this help two others like what I have done for you! This is Indian culture, the true spirit of वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम and सर्वे जनाहां सुखीनो भवंतु:

#3: India is the top "over-performer" (Over-performance is measured as the difference between the actual index rankings and the estimated index rankings based on per capita income) in terms of readiness in using, adopting frontier technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), the internet of things, big data, blockchain, 5G, 3D printing, robotics, drones, gene editing, nanotechnology and solar photovoltaic, as per the Unctad global index (158 countries). This is possible due to abundant supplies of qualified and highly skilled human resources available at a comparatively low cost (Source:www.asianage.com/technology/in-other-news/260221/india-top-over-performer-in-frontier-technologies.html)

#4: We need to be proud of few Doctors. Despite his own failing health and old age, compassion drives Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, 85, to treat the poor who make a beeline for his clinic in Bihar. He even waives the paltry Rs 5 consultation fee for those who cannot pay. Dr received Padma Shri. Now due to rising medical costs, Dr is forced to increase to 50 Rs. Even then, it is great compassion! Is it not? Proud of you Dr. (Source:www.deccanherald.com/national/padma-shri-rs-5-ranchi-doctor-rues-crass-commercialisation-of-medical-services-981191.html)

#5: A group of 17 environmentally-conscious citizens from Hassan Region (Karnataka) initiated a revival (Hasiru Bhoomi Prathishtana) of 14 lakes and 60 kalyanis (traditional water tanks). Now they are filled with water and absolutely looking blue with water! This group planted 25000 trees across tank bunds, parks, and other public places. Great Initiative right?                                                             (Source: www.deccanherald.com/spectrum/spectrum-statescan/hassan-s-kalyanis-spring-back-to-life-975251.html

#6: Top Indian IT services companies added 72,000 employees, up 44 percent from about 50,000 in the previous year, to their workforces in the pandemic-hit fiscal year 2021. While there is job loss, we also see a positive vibe in few sectors. (Source:economictimes.indiatimes.com/jobs/top-three-it-firms-hiring-up-44-at-72000-in-fy21/articleshow/82138650.cms?utm_source=contentofinterest&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=cppst)

#7: Finally, I received a Tweet of Dr.Sohil from my friend Surya Rao Pappu (with Dr.’s Picture in PPE kit vs a Picture after removing kit, completely drenched with sweat). Tweet Goes like this (“Talking on the behalf of all doctors and health workers..we are really working hard away from our family..sometimes a foot away from the positive patient, sometimes an inch away from the critically ill oldies. I request please go for vaccination..it’s the only solution! Stay safe!”).

Thousand Pranams to all Health workers and volunteers who are doing service in terms of their time, energy, and knowledge in this hour. Life is not permanent to anyone. We all have to leave this body one day anyway. However, offering some service to the needy (if needed, if you can), at least to the near and dear, using all health precautions.

Hope for a better tomorrow!

Your Well-wisher
