The Story of a boy from GVP to Apple! Humble Beginning to Whopping Package! Studious to Super coder!! Read this Interesting Story of a GVPcian!

Dear Students and Friends

As I said before, I met a GVPCE Alumni in one of the Alumni start-up inaugurations. I met an interesting COUPLE! They have not changed much from the time I first saw them in 2012!

10 years over, but still the same humbleness, calm and composed! As usual I started conversing with this couple, from college days to contemporary times! Life is like a fluid. It always flows towards gravity! If your gravity is towards doing nothing, it flows there. If your gravity is towards dedicated planning, it flows there. Out of 100, only few seriously plan their life right from college regardless of home conditions. One such individual is Vinay T, 2012-16 Dept. of CSE!!

I felt so happy interviewing Vinay and Mounica! Vinay made the impossible possible. Read this interesting and exciting story of Vinay in his own words. It is definitely inspiring and worth emulating!

Dear Friends

Life at Home:

I was born and brought up in Vizag. I am the eldest son in my family. My father was an auto driver and mother is a homemaker.

I was a school topper in my 10th class. Like many, I also developed a dream of studying in an IIT. I joined the Sri Chaitanya IIT campus. However, sometimes hurdles chase the dreams like a Lion chasing the peaceful grazing deer in a green meadow! I lost my father during my first year of Intermediate. He was the only breadwinner to our family. This was totally unexpected! My father was working hard for our settlement. I still remember my father's advice to work hard and maintain discipline in order to become successful in our life!

Now vehicle movement is not that easy the core engine fails! My mother started stitching clothes for running at home. She has to work day and night to raise both of us. It was not a great time for us! I could not get through in IIT JEE!

However, my hard work did not become futile. I got 4000 rank in AP State level Engineering Entrance Examination (EAMCET). I got an opportunity to join the Dept. of CSE in Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering, Visakhapatnam.

Life at College:

I started enjoying Computer Science because I love Mathematics. In spite of my personal conditions, I was able to maintain a good academic percentage in my First Year B.Tech. I started serious coding in my second B.Tech. I visited NIT Warangal College fest to participate in a Coding Contest. However, I failed to grab a prize. It was a big learning experience and I realized that I need to learn a lot, differently.

That is the time I heard about ACM ICPC. I have gone through the profiles of some Competitive Programmers. I developed a strong desire to become a competitive programmer.

I started solving problems online in code chef and improved my programming skills. During my 3rd year, we(me, my friends- Basant and Hari) formed a team to participate in ICPC, We three seriously prepared for that. We got qualified in online rounds and reached the regional level. We went to Amritapuri and Chennai ICPC regionals and secured 196, 85 Ranks in the country.

During this time, I got shortlisted for the Mission R&D program. I went for a summer training held at IIIT Hyderabad.

Campus Selection Experience:

During my final year, the first company that I attended was Volante. They were predominantly checking the Java coding skills. The process started with a Written round. Only a handful of students were selected in that company. I was one of those happy boys! I went to Kakinada for the second round and cleared that round too. They communicated that the final round (HR) is going to happen in Chennai. I went to Chennai for my final round. Surprisingly, it was a technical round. I did not revise much on Java Syntax. I literally struggled a lot to solve the problems within the time. It was very painful. All the way I went to Chennai hoping I would get the job. However, I got rejected in my very first company. My strategy changed. I did not leave a single room. I intensified my preparation. I was waiting to prove it in my next interview.

It’s time to attend the First On-Campus interview with TCS. I got shortlisted for TCS digital enterprise unit. I secured (89%) which is more than the cut-off (80%). I cleared Two Written Technical Rounds and went to a face-to-face Technical Interview. TCS shortlisted only 20 students for technical interviews. I was the 20th student to face the interview as per Alphabetical order.

Every candidate was being interviewed for about 30-45 mins. I have been waiting since morning 10 AM. I was called at around 8:30 PM. The interviewers asked one problem solving question and one database question. It was only for 10 mins and I was told the interview was over. I was shocked! I felt that they did not ask me in depth. I did not leave the place. I requested them to ask more questions. They laughed at me and asked a few more.

I still was not able to get convinced. I told them politely “Sir, I know you are continuously interviewing people since morning. I am sure you might have gotten tired. Can you please interview me the way you did for other candidates”?

They tested my patience by asking some movie related questions and a few other non-subject related things. Initially I was worried but finally I got moved to the HR round. It happened well. Finally, it was the results time. Almost the entire college was packed in the Auditorium. I was one of the 6 selected for TCS Digital. I was so excited!! I was called onto the stage. As soon as I got off, you know what, to whom I shared this news?

I called my mother to tell this news. Tears rolled from her face. However, these tears are filled out with happiness in contrast to the earlier heavy tears in her life. I did not attend any other companies to provide opportunities to the other friends.

Life in Industry!

I started my career as a Full Stack Java Web Developer in TCS R&D. I worked for 2 years. Later I joined Gainsight and worked for a Year. Later I joined ServiceNow and worked as a backend developer for 2 years.

As a software Engineer, I always have a fascination to be with FAANG companies. I started giving interviews for many companies. &Finally, I received offers from companies like Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Salesforce, Zeta, Paytm, Jio, PhonePe, Plivo, Fluxon, IManage, Fabric and many more*. Finally, I chose to be part of the world's most valuable company, Apple. They are paying me huge!

Technical Experience

I worked on Tech Stack like Java, Kafka, Elastic Search, Mongodb, mysql, JavaScript, Angular, Reactjs, HTML, CSS etc

Life at Apple!

The Apple recruitment process is the most exciting. There were 8 rounds and the overall interview process took 1 month. Interview was on mostly Problem solving, DS Algo, Design, Projects etc

Finally, Life Partner!

I married my classmate in BTech. We never talked much during our college days. However, we got to know each other when we were working in the industry. With consensus from our parents, we got married. My wife worked in TCS, PEGA and she is working for Areteans.

She is most supportive of my decisions and understandable in nature. At this point of time, we don’t have plans to go to the U.S, U.K etc. Our both parents stay here and have responsibility to take care of them. By God’s mercy, we both are earning well and hoping for a great future here.

Beyond Work and Family!

Apart from the regular stuff, I play chess and cricket. I had many sleepless nights in this journey from my 10th standard to Apple. Ofcourse, This is not the end. My ultimate goal is to start my own company.

Finally, it does not matter where you studied, what matters is your “passion” to achieve.

This Railway Station is created for a Purpose, without an Entrance, Exit or a Ticket Machine! Did you create such stations in your life journey or only planning to stop at the final Carriage and Wagon (C&W) Yard after reaching Your Destination? Read this Interesting Perspective!

Dear Friends and Students

Nobody in this world can predict what happens in the next minute!  Yet we “Aspire and Action” in our life journey. Both “Aspire and Action” are good else we become idle and complacent! However, we become “Apprehensive” of our “Aspire and Action”. This is the cause of worry! Personally, I did this slip-up multiple times and still not able to practice well! We all have to learn how to be detached yet work on our actions. It is a tough task but we all need to attempt!

In 2010, I was in Japan for a short trip! We heard about a Train station named “Seiryu-Miharashi”, located on the Nishikigawa Seiryu line in Southern Japan. We all got excited to hear about the station. This station does not contain an entrance, exit or a ticket machine! It has just one small platform and shelter. It is only accessible to passengers passing by by train. It is adjacent to the Nishiki River and the surrounding forest.

You might be wondering why such station is built where it is not helping any habitant nor connecting to another hop. This is built to make passengers get down for 10 minutes and get arrested to the beautiful natural view. Please check the photographs at

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-6902069/Train-station-Seiryu-Miharashi-Japan-exists-purely-passengers-admire-view.html

Often in our journey, many of us are missing to construct such rail stations and platforms. We are continuously driving (for money, position, comfort, name and fame) only to reach the final cleaning point- Carriage and Wagon (C&W) Yards. By this time, the train has already become unclean, full of garbage. The yard staff cleans and services it for its next trip! Remember, the on-board staff makes sure that the train has been evacuated. The locomotive is detached from the rake. It takes a shower of lubrication and relaxes in the maintenance workshop so it can continue its duty next trip. In the next trip, the co-passengers are different, the direction is different and the goal itself is quite 180-degree different!! Hope you understand what this next trip in our life stands for?

If we understand the deeper meaning, the locomotive is our soul. All the co-passengers are our friends and relatives. Rake is our body! God inspects the all-under-slung parts of the locomotive, and reset the wheel sets. The quality depends on the performance of the previous journey we had! Hence “Seiryu-Miharashi Railway Platforms” are absolutely necessary in our journey!

When are you planning to build your Seiryu-Miharashi Railway Platform for your life journey? Remember no co-passenger accompanies you in your next journey!
