Did War Replace Covid Fear? Is Fear Resolving Another Fear? Read this Interesting Perspective of Ecology, Economics and Education of fear?

Dear Friends and Students

A few weeks back Covid fear was mongering around us! As of yesterday we had more than 10000 cases! However, nobody seems to be worried too much! One problem ate the other problem. A big fish eats smaller fish. A big fear eats small fears. The current fear of war ate the Covid fear.

Whole world runs on fear! Fear drives the economy, Jobs, Medicines, Education and so on. Cyber security is born out of fear of cyber-attacks. Cryptocurrency is born out of fear of physical bank’s transparency. Defense industry is born out of fear of insurgency. Criminal Law is born out of crime. This list continues!

Recently I was reading an article “Ecology of fear”, published in Current Biology, ScienceDirect (sciencedirect.com ). Liana & Michael, Department of Biology, Western University, Ontario, Canada writes, ecology of fear determines conservation. Fear can kill! Fear effects numbers! Fear affects offspring or fecundity. The survival of young depends on the actions of their parents in most birds and mammals but it is not pertinent in the majority of other species. Fear is likely to affect prey populations because scared prey eat less. In the wild, predators not only kill adult prey but also prey offspring. Parent birds that heard predators, laid fewer eggs, incubated them less well, fewer hatched, and fed their offspring less, hence fewer survived! With the net result they produced 40% fewer offspring than parents that heard non-predators. Scared prey eat less, because you cannot have your head up looking for predators and your head down looking for food at the same time.

Fear drives economics and education! Today the whole world is running after that fear! I am really worried to see a few students studying abroad are fleeing back to Home land. Why? There is some sense of security in their homeland. It is natural and emotional. Today I saw a group of students holding our Indian Tri color flag while crossing the Poland border! I heard a few saying how the National flag was saved?

Country is not a geographical border. It is a community with certain culture, ethos and values. In the last 1000 years there were many invasions across the world. Geographical borders are changing but the cultural roots are intact, otherwise these wars would have not erupted.

Similarly, Fear is an economic cancer. Fear defines the Great Depression and the Great Recession! “A recession is likely to start at some point this year!! (bloombergquint.com). Again IT hiring impacts if it becomes true! Chip Companies Predict Limited Supply Chain Disruption as Russia Invades Ukraine! Ukraine supplies more than 90% of U.S. semiconductor-grade neon, critical for lasers used in chip making. The gas, a byproduct of Russian steel manufacturing, according to market research firm Techcet, is purified in Ukraine. Thirty-five percent of U.S. palladium, used in sensors and memory, among other applications, is sourced from Russia (news18.com)

Scientifically it is proved that Local (within 100 kilometers of where you live), seasonal food eaten fresh and cooked at home, is always the best option. Local foods tend to taste fresher, have more nutrients, and use less packaging. Supporting local food businesses leads to strong local economies.

What should be the strategy? Try Pakka Local, if it doesn’t work Go Glocal (Global+Local)! Still not convinced, Set Global!!

If there are mistakes in my personal views, my sincere apologies!

This 47 secs Cricket Video, a Brilliant Example for Sportsmanship! Is it not a time for announcing Chief Vidura Officer & Corporatesportsmanship awards for a healthy business & Educational Environment? Read this Interesting Perspective!!

Dear Students and Friends

Before reading this post, please watch below 47 secs Video of Nepal vs. Ireland (14 February 2022, Al Amerat Cricket Ground, Muscat, Oman Quadrangular T20 Series clash)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LmLSoQJkYs

During the 19th over of the match, wicketkeeper Aasif Sheikh could have easily dismissed Ireland all-rounder Andy McBrine while McBrine was taking a quick single. However, Aasif Sheikh decided to keep the spirit of the game intact. This little gesture is being lauded by fans and the cricket fraternity. Nepal captain Sandeep Lamichhane was the one who asked Sheikh to not run out McBrine. Nepal might have lost the match, but they won the cricket world’s heart that day. (firstpost.com).

What is the true definition of Sportsmanship? As per Nathan Jamail, bestselling author, the following 4 attributes define the sportsmanship- Not be offended by others success, Assume no one cheats, Strive to learn from others success and not resent it. The team is more important than the individuals.

How much of the corporate and Educational world practices this philosophy? While we give ranks for Highest revenue, Sustainability, Net Profit, University/Institutional Ranking, did you ever announce Corporatesportsmanship/Educationsportsmanship awards?

Can we think of ranking for best cooperation between similar brands in business? How much are they helping each other for ethical business practices? How are they helping each other without grabbing each other's genuine efforts?

Can we think of ranking between Educational institutions who help each other?

Can we think of Regionalsportsmanship awards in a particular geography to promote cooperation among countries?

They sound theoretical but is it not time to raise them for a better world? We see one coaching center poaching other coached students for better ranking? We see one brand damage another's brand reputation for a petty market share.

Students learn professional ethics in their curriculum. But we give least priority to practice. I am sure it is mostly a non-credit course in many educational institutions across the globe! There itself we are giving differential priority to this concept. What are we messaging to the students?

Parents are also equally responsible for this. Honestly, including myself, how many of us train our Children to stand for ethics in the society. We all fear reality!  There itself we compromised our values.

Vidura-niti, or Vidura's Statecraft, narrated in the form of a dialogue between Vidura and King Dhritarashtra, is considered the precursor in some ways of Chanakyaneeti. Vidura is held to be a paragon of truth, dutifulness, impartial judgement and steadfast dharma. He is considered the embodiment of the inner consciousness of the Mahabharata. He is described as the prime minister of the Kuru Kingdom and is the paternal uncle of the Pandavas and Kauravas.

In the corporate world, we have CEO, CTO, COO, CPO, CFO, CDO, CIO, CHRO and so on! Time to create a CVO role! Company’s Vidura, who brings neutrality and heads the practice of equality in the organization!

Will you consider appointing “Chief Vidura Officer” in your Organization?

Today Technical Debt is an Issue in the Software Industry! Hiring Debt is another Serious Issue! But, did you ever check your Career Debt? Read this interesting Perspective!!

Dear Students and Friends

Recently I read an insight about Technical Debt.  Technical debt is estimated to cost businesses $5 trillion in the next 10 years (Outsystems). Don’t worry about this technical debt? Shortly I will explain to you.

Outsystems is a low-code platform (Boston, Massachusett-based Company) which provides tools for companies to develop, deploy and manage applications. Basically the platform writes most of the code. Developer needs to write only a few lines on top of it!! Helps in productivity! Code first time right philosophy!!

In simple terms, Technical debt means poorly written code. Bad code compromises many important aspects of software engineering. Due to this, there are severe consequences and leads to huge financial loss to the organizations!!

This is not good! Companies are working hard to solve this problem! That’s fine! What about Hiring Debt? The Cost of a Wrong Hiring Decision causes a much bigger problem to the organization than Technical debt! Companies are worried about it but there is no solution yet?

One wrong hire at fresher level costs a module disaster. One wrong hire at a senior engineer level costs an application disaster. One wrong hire at a project manager level costs a portfolio disaster. One wrong hire at Vice President Level costs a vertical disaster. One wrong hire at CEO level costs the whole company disaster! This story continues!

The other side of the Hiring Debt is called Career Debt! This is a much bigger problem than Hiring Debt!! Now Let us see from an Employee perspective!

If you join a company for a better package and the company's work culture is sick, you will experience a fall into a 10-foot-deep uncovered manhole!!

If you join a company which expects you to stay away from your home but there is need for your presence at home, you will witness a carrot dangled in front of a balky donkey

If you join a company which demands long working hours without your consent, you will experience a taste of stale food that too when you are super hungry!!

If you join a company which offers a mice job when you are expecting a Lion's role, you will experience the taste of Karela juice (bitter melon) served the next day of your fasting as a main course meal!!

If you join a company but make you unhealthy/sick frequently, you will experience a Ferris wheel (a circular ride that rotates in a vertical circle) right after having a Sampoorna Thali that comprises over 45 insanely toothsome dishes!!

If you join a company where your boss is harassing you, you will experience an Aloo Patta Gobhi Recipe made using stone grounded High Spice Red Chilli powder (double the quantity than required)!!

This story never ends!!

While software companies are busy reducing their Technical Debt, while HR managers are tiring to reduce their Hiring Debt, what are you doing to reduce your Career Debt?

Did you check your Career Debt? If you are experiencing any of the 5 conditions mentioned above in your work, your Career Debt is alarming!

Get Reduce or Get Rinsed? Take a wise choice!!

Our team is working on a few algorithms to solve Hiring Debt and Career Debt! Stay Tuned….

350+ Varieties of Vocal Cards, Different Success Mantras But what is Unique among them?! Read this Interesting perspective of "The Story of Indian Playback Singers"!

Dear Friends and Students

Last week Lataji reached higher planets but left her voice as a return gift to the music lovers! I am not an ardent follower of Music but out of curiosity did a little research on Indian playback singers. With my quick check, I found 350+ playback singers from this soil so far!! I was checking known names and their contributions so far.

The following 10 amazing singers are no more but left their vocal cards with us. They all together sung 1,59,478 songs as per the rough calculations. I am subjected to the error but to derive a different perspective.

Mohammed Rafi (Lived 55 years, No of songs 25000, share 16% of this 1.59 Lakhs songs, Padma Shri), Kishore Kumar (Lived 58, No of songs 2678, share 2%, No Padma Award), Lata Mangeshkar (age 92, songs 50000, share 31%, Bharat Ratna), SP Balasubramanyam (lived 74, No of songs 40000, share 25%, Padma Vibhushan), Manna Dey (lived 94, No of songs 3500, % share 2%, Padma Bhushan), Jagjit Singh (Lived 70, Not sure of No of Ghajals, Padma Bhushan), Mahendra Kapoor (Lived 74, No of songs 25000, %share 16%, Padma Shri), Hemanta Mukhopadhyay(Lived 69, No of songs 2000, Share1%, Padma Vibhushan but not accepted), Mukesh Chand Mathur(lived 53, No of songs 1300, share 1%, No Padma Award), Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao (Lived 51, No of songs 10000, Share 6%, Padma Shri).

Out of 350+ famous singers across all states of India, many singers sang in different languages. To my surprise, 260 singers could able to sing in Hindi, 176 in Telugu, 169 in Tamil, 134 in Bengali, 124 in Kannada, 102 in Malayalam, 67 Punjabi, 66 Marathi, 59 Urdu, 50 English, 49 Odia, 39 Assamese, 35 Gujarathi, 30 Nepali, 24 Bhojpuri, 10 Sanskrit, 10 Tulu, 9 Sindhi, 8 Rajashatni, 7 Konkani, 6 Simhalese, 6 Arabic, 4 French, 4 Maithili, 4 Russian, 3 German, 3 Malay, 3 Haryanvi (Haryana), 2 Manipuri, 1 african, 1 armenian, 2 badaga (Nilgiri, Tamilnadu), 1 barpetia (assamme dialect), 1 bhangara,1 bishnupriya (Manipuri), 1 bundeli, 1 chattisgadi, 1 dutch, 1 goalpariya(Bangladesh dialect), 1 italian, 1 Japanese, 1 kachari (Bodos), 1 kajri (UP), 1 karbi(Assam), 1 Kashimiri, 1 khasi(Meghalaya).

I was surprised! I turned towards what kind of intelligence needed for this versatility? Definitely they all possess Musical Intelligence (Ability to produce and appreciate rhythm, pitch and timber) for sure!! On top of it, a few of them must be possessing Verbal-Linguistic Intelligence (Well-developed verbal skills and sensitivity to the sounds, meanings and rhythms of words)!!

As per Malcolm Gladwell’s 2008 book Outliers, it takes 10,000 hours of practice to become an expert in any field. If a person practices for 10 hours per day, it takes 1000 days to become an expert. As these playback singers showed their expertise in their walk of life, they might have clocked 10,000 hours of practice or 3 years of rigorous practice to reach their level.

What am I trying to derive out of these statistics? A few singers became famous in short period, a few singers continued their prowess throughout their career, a few died in 50s/60s and a few died in 80s/90s, a few could able to sing in multiple languages, a few in single language, a few earnt Padma Awards, a few earnt none, a few earned crores of rupees, a few might have lost everything, a few had contented life, a few had shortfalls in their life, but all them showed their passion towards their profession. They lived for their intelligence. God sanctions a certain intelligence biologically. They were able to leverage that intelligence, practiced for 10,000 hours and became proficient in their profession.

What is it for you?

Step 1: Identify your intelligence among 9 Intelligences of MI Theory (Verbal-Linguistic Intelligence, Mathematical-Logical Intelligence, Musical Intelligence, Visual-Spatial Intelligence, Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence, Interpersonal Intelligence, Intrapersonal Intelligence, Naturalist Intelligence, and Existential Intelligence).

Step 2: Practice for 10,000 hours.

Step 3: Search for an opportunity and check the outcomes after 3 years of 10,000 hours of practice

Step 4: Decide whether to continue in that profession or not using the following formula!

Name or Fame or Monetary Benefits = (Your Natural Intelligence * Practice Hours * Opportunity) / Bad Luck

If Bad Luck goes low, Name or Fame or Monetary gains are high and Vice-Versa. However, regardless of outcomes, your satisfaction levels are always high!! Guaranteed!!

What are you waiting for? Check your Intelligence, start practicing and search for an opportunity!!

Time starts now!
