Letter to Student Series : Volume 2 Issue 9

My Dear Student Friends,
Greetings!

This is Dr. Ravi Saripalle, Founder, Inspire to Innovate (i2i) Storytelling Movement. Welcome to “Letter to Student Series- Volume 2 and Issue 9. Hope you enjoyed reading my previous letter (they are available at http://i2itm.blogspot.in/). The goal of these letters is to inspire students across the country and make them Future Ready / Industry Ready.
 In continuation to my earlier letter, I would like to stress upon the importance of upholding your original creativity. Practice your natural intelligence for 4 hours in a week. If intelligence matches to your personality, age you started, identification of the opportunity at right time, makes you most successful in your career. 

Hope you identified and nailed your intelligence. In the previous letter, I shared few individuals, highest in each of these 9 intelligences, practiced it over period of years and influenced the society. Let me share few more examples which helps in stemming our belief.

1. Verbal-linguistic intelligence : Former Prime Minister of India, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee is an  orator par excellence and delivered excellent speeches. He is also a poet by heart. Leslie Calvin "Les" Brown is famous American motivational speaker, author, radio DJ, former television host, and former politician (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Brown_(speaker)). These people have highest order Verbal-linguistic intelligence.
2. Logical-mathematical intelligence: Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft is having highest order logical and mathematical intelligence. Nicolaus Copernicus, famous  mathematician and astronomer who conceptualized the model of the universe (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicolaus_Copernicus). You all must be having great experience playing RUBIK’S CUBE. It has been developed by young Professor of architecture in Budapest (Hungary) name Prof. Erno Rubik. Prof Rubik is having highest logical / mathematical intelligence. 3. Spatial-visual intelligence: Sudarsan Pattnaik is an Indian sand artist from Odisha, India. Pattnaik was awarded the Padma Shri in 2014. He established The Golden Sand Art Institute. He is having highest order spatial-visual intelligence (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudarsan_Pattnaik). You must see his art at http://www.sandindia.com/home.html. Santiago Calatrava Valls, Spanish architect, structural engineer, sculptor and painter, known for his bridges is having great spatial-visual intelligence. 4. Bodily-kinesthetic intelligence: Pele (from Brazil) is one of the top football players of all time and is considered as legend in the football sport. His family lived in the extreme poverty. In spite of this background, Pele learnt the sport and reached to top level. He is perfect example for man with highest Bodily-kinesthetic intelligence (http://www.thesportster.com/entertainment/15-athletes-born-into-extreme-poverty/). Sita Sahu (Madhya Pradesh), a two time bronze medal winner in the Athens Special Olympics in 2011(200 meter relay race and another in the 1,600 meter race), is considered to have  great level of Bodily-kinesthetic intelligence. She is fighting against poverty but she has done extreme well in sports. 5. Musical intelligence: George Harrison (1943 –2001) was an extraordinary English guitarist, singer, songwriter, and music & film producer with highest order musical intelligence. George is not just great musician, but he is also great devotee of Lord Krishna. He contributed a lot to the Krishna Consciousness movement (http://www.bhaktivedantamanor.co.uk/home/?page_id=9). Madurai Shanmukhavadivu Subbulakshmi, popularly known as M.S, internationally acclaimed Carnatic vocalist ( India), having enormous musical intelligence. She received  Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor. She has great heart and donated many of the royalties to many charity organizations (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M._S._Subbulakshmi)
6. Interpersonal (Social) Intelligence: Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (1875 –1950) was the first Deputy Prime Minister of India who played crucial role in National independence movement. Patel persuaded most of the princely states to come to India. He played best role in national integration. He is also called as Unifier of India. He is considered to be having highest order social intelligence (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vallabhbhai_Patel). Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former president of India, renowned scientist and science administrator of DRDO, recipient of Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor, also contributed towards National integration. He is considered to have highest order social intelligence.
7. Intrapersonal intelligence (Self Smart): With this intelligence, we start looking inwards and  understand our feelings and goals. You will be intuitive towards yourself. Yellapragada Subbarow (1895 –1948) was an Indian biochemist, discovered the function of adenosine triphosphate as an energy source in the cell, and also developed methotrexate for cancer treatment. He is always modest and never marketed his work. He used to give credit to his colleagues and co-researchers (http://medind.nic.in/jac/t01/i1/jact01i1p96.pdf). He is considered to be best of self smart people. Socrates, great philosopher, considered to have great intrapersonal intelligence. He has great ability to analyze theories which made him as philosopher. He is considered to be most important person who influenced the Western Philosophy.

8. Naturalist intelligence : Sunderlal Bahuguna (born 1927) is an eminent Garhwali environmentalist, early stage Chipko movement leader and ardent follower of Mahatma Gandhi's Non-violence and Satyagraha. He carried message called "Ecology is permanent economy". He struggled to defend India's rivers as well. He got great amount of naturalistic intelligence (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunderlal_Bahuguna). Anil Kumar Agarwal (1947- 2002), a mechanical engineer from IIT Kanpur, noted environmentalist and founder of the Centre for Science and Environment, a Delhi-based research institute which is currently led by Sunita Narain. In 1987, the United Nations Environment Program elected him to its Global 500 Roll of Honour. The Indian Government honored him with Padma Shri (1986) and Padma Bhushan (2002) for his work in environment and development. 9. Existential / Spiritual intelligence: Chaitanya Mahaprabhu ( 1486 –1534) was a spiritual leader and founder of Gaudiya Vaishnavism. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu  propagated Vaishnava school of Bhakti yoga based on based on Bhagavata Purana and Bhagavad Gita. At an early age itself, Mahaprabhu became a scholar and opened a school and transformed many lives (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaitanya_Mahaprabhu). Śrī Rāmānujāchārya is a great philosopher and propagated Sri Vaisnava tradition. Noted works are Rāmānuja – Shri Bhāshya, Vedārthasangraha and the Bhagavad Gita Bhāshya (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramanuja).

I wish you should be either Performer (your score should be between 40-50) or Challenger (your score should be between 25-40). You should not give any scope to be  Lounger (relaxed) with 10-25 score or Laggard (slower than desired) with score less than 10.
