Padma Awardee Story Series-Episode 2-
Dr Abhay Bang and Dr Rani Bang, Revolutionizing healthcare in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra, India. : Dr Abhay and Dr Rani are Indian
social Scientists and researchers who are working towards healthcare for poor.
They have designed and monitored a program called "Home based Neonatal

Padma Awardee Story Series-Episode 3-
Arvind Gupta, who is making Science Learning Fun, Meaningful and Thoughtful : Aravind Gupta, an Indian Toymaker, An
alumnus of IIT Kanpur, redefined the science teaching method. He developed many
low-cost and high utility toys and educational experiments using thrash and

An IIT student used his engineering
skills to save a diabetic’s life during mid-flight!- Kartikeya Mangalam, student of
electrical engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, was coming back
from Geneva to Delhi. There was a medical emergency during the flight. There
was a patient with Type 1 diabetes who forgot insulin pump at security counter.
His sugar levels reached peak. There was high necessity to pump in the insulin.
Though he was carrying insulin cartridges but he didn't have the device to
inject them. Though the fellow doctor passenger was carrying insulin pen but it
was not fitting the patient cartridge. The plane was planning for emergency
landing. But Kartikeya used his engineering skills and provided a temporary
fix. Using airplane WiFi, he found the engineering drawing of the pen and found
"doctor's insulin pen was missing a spring". He collected ballpoint pens from
fellow passengers and identified the right spring. He reassembled the pen and
gave it to the doctor for injection. In 15 minutes time, patient came to
normal. Kartikeya writes, even engineers can save life! Thank you Kartikeya for

Anu Kumari, mother of a four year
old, Sonipat district, Haryana, got the second rank in UPSC 2018: There is no substitute to hard work. There
is no constraint for determination. Anu Kumari, mother of 4 years, got second
rank in UPSC this year. She fulfilled domestic needs, at the same time, she did
good preparation for civil services examination. She did her bachelor's in Physics
from Delhi University, MBA from IMT Nagpur. Surprisingly, Anu Kumari did not
take any coaching but secured good result. Best wishes to her for many more
successes. Today she is a role model for many girl aspirants who got into

Poo to Power, Aditya Agarwal
and Amit Agarwal are making it a Reality: Cow produces green gold in the form
of dung and produces white gold in the form of milk. According to Govt., India
has ~30 crores cattle population, which produce around 30 lakhs tons of cattle
dung, which can produce bio-gas and manure. Aditya Agarwal and Amit Agarwal without
anybody's support, started cattle dung-based power plant which
produces close to two megawatts of power daily. In 2018-19, Govt. of India

Mumbai Dabbawalas is planning to
start courier and parcel service! Hope you all know about Mumbai Dabbawalas. It is one of the
world largest human network, which delivers hot lunches from homes to people at
work and delivers back! Lunch boxes are marked in different ways- abbreviations
for collection points, color coding for
start location, number for destination station, marking for building and floor.
Surprisingly approx 175,000 and 200,000 lunch boxes are delivered each day by ~
5,000 dabbawalas. It is also another record that dabbawalas make less
than one mistake in every six million deliveries!! It is six sigma organization
right? Now dabbawalas is entering to another service: Courier and Parcels! With
the great history and commitment, I am sure this service also becomes big hit! Wish

Bangalore's startup, Ather Energy launches EV
charging network : Ather Energy, a startup started EV charging network called
'AtherGrid'. They are offering fast charging facility. They are
installed in malls, gyms, restaurants etc. They are planning to setup a

Not a Good News, Plastic found at
world's remotest spot, 2700 km from land: This is not at all good news! Point
Nemo, is 2,700 km away from the land. 26
microplastics per cubic meter were found in the sample sea water. Probably this
shows how big the problem we are entering in. When I see this picture, I found
a turtle swimming nearby. This poses great danger to flora and fauna as well. We
all need to be responsible in using plastic. Otherwise, we all become victim of
